If you watched the video above, you’re probably just as speechless as I am. Kyle Lambert, who has made a name for his photo realistic iPad portraits, just outdid himself once again. Using Procreate, this portrait of Morgan Freeman was drawn 100% on the iPad.
Using a feature within Procreate, Kyle has managed to capture the entire painting process in a time lapse video, allowing the viewer to watch 200 hours of painting in just 3 minutes.
Using only his finger and an iPad, Kyle was able to paint an incredibly photo-realistic portrait of the one and only Morgan Freeman.
285,000 brush strokes
“I recently discovered that it was possible to create incredibly high resolution (4k) paintings using only my iPad, and I wanted to see just how far I could push digital artwork and paint a true photorealistic portrait.
I started with a blank white screen and began capturing Morgan Freeman’s likeness, quickly painting the broad strokes with my finger, I then reduced the brush size to a few pixels, pinched to zoom and carefully painted in the fine detail.”
To paint “Morgan Freeman”, Kyle used Procreate. The Procreate app transforms your iPad into a mobile art studio with a broad range of digital paint brushes for simulating pencil, oils and inks as well as the ability to build your own tools. With it’s 4K canvas size, Procreate gave Kyle the perfect resolution to paint a portrait that is truly indistinguishable from a photograph.
